The German Ambassador to Pakistan MS Iena Lepal inaugurated the newly upgraded radiology department of Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar (KTH) on 15th December 2015. The up gradation, which was carried out by Commissionerate KP RAHA under the financial assistance of Federal Republic of Germany (KFW), will benefit 100 patients per day. The Additional Commissioner Mr. Waqar Maroof along with chief coordinator RAHA of Commissionerate Afghan Refugees KP and Head of UNHCR sub office Peshawar Mr. Jacques Franquin were also present on the occasion. It is worth-mentioning that KTH radiology department was lacking modern equipment for screening patients effectively. Therefore, the old analogue X-Ray machine was replaced with modern digital X-ray equipments for improved quality and accurate diagnosis.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Waqar Maroof appreciated the assistance of the Government of Germany for extending support and RAHA CAR for timely completion of the project. He further said that the RAHA programme is being implemented in Khyber Pakhtunkwa through the Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) to develop the infrastructure in the refugees affected areas. Earlier, the Germen Ambassador commended the unprecedented work of Khyber Teaching Hospital in providing specialized medical care to a large number of patients including Afghan Refugees over the last three decades.
